Edit H. Glassman
Edith H. Glassman
Edith Glassman, a resident of Cathedral Village in the Andorra section of Philadelphia and former long time resident of Erdenheim, died peacefully May 8, 2017 in Temple University Hospital. She was 93.
She was the loving wife of the late Irving Glassman with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
Edith graduated from Simon Gratz High School, Class 26-41. She was an active volunteer at Bird-In Hand, Chestnut Hill for many years, and was a member of the League of Women Voters. She was a collector of antiques for her own enjoyment, as well as for family members and her many friends. Her interest in art led to her selection as a participant in the Barnes Foundation Art Education program in the 1980’s. She played the piano and was an enthusiastic concert goer. She was also an active gardener and followed current events closely.
A devoted wife, mother and aunt, she brought great joy to all those whose lives she touched in her 93 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Doherty of Maryland (Gilbert) and son, Edward Glassman of Toronto (Lise); and two grandchildren, Dominique and Nathaniel.
There will be a private family gathering.
Donations in her memory may be made to Philadelphia Mural Arts (muralarts.org)
